Govardhana puja
In 2024, we are celebrating Govardhana puja on 2nd November (Saturday) in Krisna Valley!
We have already informed you earlier that this year all the national festivals will be free. However, we would like to ask you to contribute to the successful organization of the festival by offering your services and donations.
We’d like to share some important information about the upcoming festival to help everyone feel comfortable and prepared for this special event:
Weather: Since cooler weather is expected, please bring warm clothing to stay comfortable during the programs. While most events will take place in the temple room, the go-puja, Giridhari worship, and the feast will be held outdoors, so it’s good to be prepared.
Feast: We are delighted to see so many registrations! The feast will be held in the tent, and to ensure that everyone can sit comfortably according to vaisnava traditions, prasadam will be served in three rounds. The color of your wristband will indicate which round you can sit in. Those who pick up their wristbands earlier will be able to take their seats first. The feast rounds are expected to start at the following times: 1:30 pm, 2:15 pm, and 3:00 pm. Please arrive at the tent on time, and be mindful to finish your meal in time so that the next round can begin smoothly.
Sweet Distribution: Maha sweets will be distributed during the feast. Even those who did not sign up for the feast but registered for the event will receive maha sweets, as we want everyone to share in this blessing. Throughout the day, pujaris will also be offering maha sweets for purchase, in case anyone would like more.
Important! The sweets are offerings to Sri Govardhan-lal, made by the devotion of the vaisnavas. We will distribute as many sweets as are offered, so please understand if quantities are limited.
Registration and fees
This year's Govardhana puja feast is sponsored. In order to be able to offer you prasadam of adequate quality and quantity, please register on this website before 24th of October, if you are planning to attend the festival.
If you would like to give donations for the festivals, you can do it through this website: https://krisnavolgy.hu/donate/
Parking
From now on, you will be able to park your cars on the field under Varsana (between the cannery and the green warehouse) instead of the Gauranga square (in front of the temple). Please leave your cars on that field, and walk from there.
Cancelling registration
If you were planning to come to the festival, but for some reason you won't be able to come, please write us an email to [email protected] . It helps a lot with calculating the needed prasadam amount. Even if it's just one day before the festival, please let us know if you won't come.
We are looking forward to seeing and serving you all!
Your servant,
Syamajiu dasi
"The cowherd men inquired from Kṛṣṇa how He wanted the yajña performed, and Kṛṣṇa gave them the following directions. 'Prepare very nice foods of all descriptions from the grain and ghee collected for the yajña. Prepare rice, dāl, then halavā, pakorā, purī and all kinds of milk preparations, such as sweet rice, rabrī, sweetballs, sandeśa, rasagullā and laḍḍu, and invite the learned brāhmaṇas who can chant the Vedic hymns and offer oblations to the fire. The brāhmaṇas should be given all kinds of grain in charity. Then decorate all the cows and feed them well. After performing this, give money in charity to the brāhmaṇas. As far as the lower animals are concerned, such as the dogs, and the lower grades of people, such as the caṇḍālas, or the fifth class of men, who are considered untouchable, they also may be given sumptuous prasādam. After nice grasses have been given to the cows, the sacrifice known as Govardhana-pūjā may immediately begin. This sacrifice will very much satisfy Me.'"
“One who neglects the worship of Govardhana-pūjā, as I am personally conducting it, will not be happy. There are many snakes on Govardhana Hill, and persons neglecting the prescribed duty of Govardhana-pūjā will be bitten by these snakes and killed. In order to assure the good fortune of the cows and themselves, all people of Vṛndāvana near Govardhana must worship the hill, as prescribed by Me.” (Srila Prabhupada's Krishna book - Worshiping Govardhana hill)
